Some tips for a great first class with us.
Before Class
After Class
Please review our etiquette page to familiarize yourself with our Studio's policies and student expectations.
- Be sure to eat a light snack 1-2 hours before class. Avoid any heavy meals.
- Drink plenty of water the day before and leading up to your first class.
- Before your first class, new students must arrive at least 15-20 minutes early. Give yourself time to find the studio. This helps ensure that we have time to finish your registration, convey a few important details, and get you set up for class.
- Stay focused. Listen carefully to the instructions of your teacher and approach every posture to the best of your ability.
- Take breaks when you need to and when you're ready, get back into it.
After Class
- Continue drinking plenty of water and consider adding Superieur Electrolytes to help replenish what you sweat out in class.
- Make a commitment and sign up for your next class. We find that most students see the benefits after their third or fourth class so stick with it. Try different classes/instructors to see what appeals to you.

Frequently Asked Questions
I'm running late. Will I be admitted to class?
Doors are locked 5 minutes before class starts so its essential you are on time. We do not make any exceptions to this policy. For your safety, please arrive arrive at least 15-20 minutes early. Give yourself time to find the studio and get settled in before class starts.
What should I wear?
We recommend comfortable clothes you can easily move in. Most people wear leggings or shorts and a tank top or sports bra. You will want to wear clothing that is light and breathable so we discourage heavy pants or thick t-shirts (they will retain more sweat and make it harder to move).
What should I bring?
For class, you will need a mat, towel, and a water bottle. We encourage you to bring your own class essentials but we do have them at the studio for rent/purchase if you forget or do not own one.
Should I eat before class?
Each body is different. We recommend not eating heavy meals within a few hours of class if possible. Some postures may prove to be challenging or uncomfortable with a full stomach. That said, you don't want to be without fuel or energy. Eating a light snack will definitely provide you with the energy you need for class without the discomfort.
How much water should I drink?
Remember, yesterday's water hydrates you today. While drinking in class may be necessary, it is not a replacement for proper hydration prior to class. Drink plenty of water or fluids with electrolytes before your class. If/when you do drink in class, small sips are better than big gulps.
I have never done hot yoga before, what class should I do first?
All of our classes are open to beginners (except the intermediate class if you've never done a Classic 26/2 class before). If anytime during the class you have any difficulty, just take a break. Be still, focus on your breath, sit if necessary, and join back in when you are ready. It is a judgment-free zone. Sometimes taking a break or backing off the depth of a posture can be a good thing. Learning to listen to your body will help you pace yourself in future classes.
What if I can't do a pose?
Remember, yoga is not a performance. It is a journey and everybody is different (and can vary day to day as well). If you are not able to fully execute a posture, just work to the best of your ability. Starting small and focusing on proper alignment will help a lot more than trying to force your body into a posture it is not ready to do. The best thing you can do is give yourself time and have patience. Each day will be different as your body develops strength, flexibility, and stamina. Who knows? You might be surprised at what your body can do when you commit to it.
I am not accustomed to the heat, can I leave the room to cool off?
Acclimating to a heated room is a process. The heat adds an extra challenge by increasing your cardio capacity and allows your muscles to have more elasticity. This helps you to go deeper into a posture than you might otherwise without injury. Leaving the room in the middle of class will cause the acclimation process to start all over again, so we discourage it as much as possible.
